Customer Demand Analysis

Communicate in-depth with customers to understand the usage scenarios of customized carbon fiber products. For example, whether it is used in parts for aerospace, sports goods such as high-end bicycle frames and golf clubs, or robotic arms in the industrial field, etc. Because different usage scenarios have very different performance requirements for carbon fiber products.

Determine the product's appearance requirements such as size and shape. If you are making carbon fiber products with complex shapes, special molding processes may be required to meet the design requirements.

Provide Technical Consultation

Provide technical advice on carbon fiber materials to customers based on their requirements. For example, introducing the performance characteristics of different carbon fiber models (such as T300, T800, etc.) , production process to customers and how these characteristics affect the performance of the final product.

Inform customers of the technical challenges and limitations that they may be encountered during the customization process, such as the possibility that certain complex shapes cannot be formed with high precision under existing processes, or that specific performance requirements may result in a significant increase in costs.

Design Solution

According to the requirements of customers and technical consultation results, the design team conducts detailed design of the product, such as required stiffness and strength, weaving direction, etc.

Consider the connection mode and interface design of the product. If carbon fiber products need to be connected with other components, such as metal parts in aerospace structures, it is necessary to design a reasonable connection interface to ensure the reliability of the connection and the consistency of the overall performance.

Program Review

Organize interdepartmental design review meetings with design engineers, material experts, process engineers, etc. Conduct a comprehensive review of the design plan to check whether the design meets customer requirements, whether it meets the processing requirements of carbon fiber materials, and whether there are potential quality risks.

Modify and improve the design plan based on the review comments to ensure the feasibility and optimality of the design.

Carbon Fiber Material Selection

Choose the appropriate carbon fiber raw material according to the design requirements. There are many types of carbon fiber, including different fiber tow specifications (such as 1K, 3K, 6K, 12K, 24K, 50K, etc.), different levels of strength (such as T300, T400, T700, T800, T1000, T1100, etc.), different levels of modulus (such as M40, M50, M55, M60, etc.), different matrix materials (such as epoxy resin(EPOXY), bismaleimide (BMI), polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyimide (PI), etc.). For example, for products that require high toughness, epoxy resin-based carbon fiber with better toughness may be selected; while for products used in high temperature environments, polyimide-based carbon fiber may be required.

Auxiliary Materials Procurement

In addition to carbon fiber, a range of auxiliary materials need to purchase, such as curing agents, release agents, adhesives, etc. The quality of these auxiliary materials will also directly affect the final performance of the product.

For example, the type and amount of curing agent will affect the curing effect and performance of carbon fiber products, so it is necessary to choose the appropriate curing agent according to the carbon fiber material and design requirements, and ensure that its quality meets the requirements.

Molding Process Selection

According to the product design and material characteristics, choose the appropriate molding process. Common carbon fiber molding processes include hand lay-up, vacuum molding, autoclave molding, compression molding, winding molding, pultrusion molding, etc. For example, for products with complex shapes and small sizes, hand lay-up may be a more suitable process; while for mass-produced products with regular shapes, such as carbon fiber tubes, pultrusion has higher production efficiency and quality stability.

Manufacturing Process Control

During the manufacturing process, strictly control process parameters such as temperature, pressure, time, etc. Taking the curing process of carbon fiber products as an example, the control of curing temperature and time is very critical. Too high or too low temperature, too long or too short time will affect the performance of the product.

Carry out quality inspection, including inspection of raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products. In each manufacturing process, appropriate inspection methods, such as non-destructive testing technology (ultrasonic testing, X-ray testing, etc.) are used to check whether there are defects inside the product to ensure that the product quality meets the design requirements.

Surface Treatment

Carbon fiber products are surface treated according to product requirements. This may include grinding, polishing, painting, etc. For example, for sporting goods with high appearance requirements, fine grinding and polishing are required to make the surface smooth; then painting is performed to increase the beauty and corrosion resistance of the product.

For some products that require special surface properties, such as carbon fiber products with anti-static and anti-fouling functions, corresponding surface modification treatment is also required.

Final Quality Inspection

Carry out a comprehensive quality inspection on the finished product, including appearance inspection, dimensional accuracy inspection, performance test, etc. Appearance inspection mainly checks whether there are defects on the product surface and whether the coating is uniform; dimensional accuracy inspection ensures that the actual size of the product is within the tolerance range allowed by the design; performance testing should be based on the performance requirements of the product, using professional testing equipment and methods to test the product's strength, rigidity, corrosion resistance and other performance indicators.

Product Delivery

After the products are qualified, it will be delivered in the manner agreed with the customer, including packaging, transportation, etc. The packaging should ensure that the product is not damaged during transportation. Appropriate packaging materials and packaging methods can be used, such as foam plastics, wooden boxes, etc.

Provide customers with product manuals and after-sales service commitments, including product installation guides, maintenance recommendations, quality assurance periods, etc., to ensure that customers can use and maintain the products correctly.
